Pimlico District Heating Undertaking

The Federation of Pimlico Residents' Associations (FREDA) met with representatives of Westminster City Council (the Council) to discuss the Pimlico District Heating Undertaking (PDHU).

The PDHU is a heating system supplying hot water and heating to parts of Pimlico including Churchill Gardens, Russell House, Abbots Manor and Lillington & Longmore Gardens.  It was originally designed to use waste heat from Battersea Power Station, more recently it was powered by diesel engines.  The whole system has now reached “end of life”.  The Council is looking at a number of options.  They all appear to be expensive and would be charged to leaseholders.

The Council will report back to FREDA when further work has been undertaken to evaluate the options.  No time frame was given for this action.  If you would like more information, this link to the WCC will help.  https://futureofpdhu.commonplace.is/
